Sandy Masterpieces Painting Event

Sunday, July 12 | 12:30 - 3 pm | MOCA

Pick up a paintbrush and let your creativity flow! Join us for Sandy Masterpieces, a guided painting experience led by a talented MOCA artist. Whether you’re a seasoned painter or a first-time canvas explorer, you’ll be guided step-by-step to create your very own beach-inspired masterpiece to take home.

BRIDGE Bootcamp

July 14 - July 30 | Tuesday & Thursday | 4-5 pm | Batten University (VWU)

BRIDGE Bootcamp is a 6-module, 3-week program for students preparing to transition into high school or college. This program is for every kind of learner who wants support building skills to manage their time and tasks as they take on more responsibility as a teen or young adult.

Cost: $200 financial assistance available

Bootcamp will focus on:

  • Binder and material organization so things are easy to find
  • Using and completing to-do lists without feeling overwhelmed
  • Time management tools and tricks to remember what needs to be done by when – and get it done!
  • Task organization and prioritization
  • Walk away with personal, flexible strategies that work for you

Using AI in Your Personal Life

Wednesday, July 15 | 6 - 7 pm | Batten University (VWU)

An introduction to how AI tools can support everyday life—from organization to communication and beyond. Designed to be accessible, practical, and easy to apply.

Accommodations and Advocacy in College

Wednesday, July 22 | 6 - 7 pm | Batten University (VWU)

If you have an IEP or 504 plan and are thinking about college, this session is for you. Meghan Ashburn will walk us through what rights carry forward after high school and how to ask for accommodations in ways that actually work.

CAYA Fundraiser at the Norfolk Tides

Tuesday, July 28 | Game Starts at 6:35 PM | Post-Show Fireworks Included!

Grab your glove and friends and join us for a night of baseball and community! This is a fundraiser for CAYA, and every ticket sold goes directly to CAYA’s programs, events, and scholarships supporting neurodivergent adults across Hampton Roads. Stay after the game for a fireworks show to close out the night.

Work READY, Future Strong

Sept. 9 - Dec. 2 | Wednesdays | 6 - 7:30 pm | Batten University

A 12-module program focused on building skills, confidence, and independence. Participants will engage in structured sessions designed to support personal growth and real-world readiness.

Cost: $400 financial aid available

Who this is for:
Adults ready to grow their independence and build real-world life skills.

But First, READY

Sept. 21 - Nov. 30 |Mondays | 6 - 7 pm | Batten University

But First, READY is CAYA’s introduction-to-the-workforce program. Intentionally crafted to meet young adults at the beginning of their journey, helping them explore strengths, uncover interests, and build the communication skills and self-advocacy to move forward with confidence. Whether you are thinking about first volunteer opportunity or job – BFR is a great place to start!

Cost: $400 financial aid available

Who this is for:
For people who are 18+ looking to build the skills and confidence for success in their first workplace experience.

BRIDGE - Building Life Skills

Sept. 22 - Nov. 12 | Tuesday & Thursday | 6 - 7:30 pm | Batten University

BRIDGE helps adults achieve their personal independence goals by providing the tools, resources, and support needed for everyday life — at home, at work, and in the community
 

Participants will learn:

  • Executive functioning and planning
  • Personal finances and budgeting
  • Healthcare and self-management
  • Housing and independent living
  • Transportation and community navigation
  • Problem-solving and decision-making

Cost: $500 financial aid available
