At the beginning of the program, each participant will complete an intake form to understand their unique strengths, interests, and aspirations. This information will be used to build the Individual Independence Plan (IIP) that will include goals and milestones while working with Caya.
These sessions will focus on developing job-related skills. Each participant will learn about different roles & job functions, workplace dynamics, and necessary technical abilities. They will be trained in practical skills, such as preparing a CV, conducting a job interview, and effective professional communication.
We recognize that social situations can be challenging for individuals with autism. So, part of our program involves coaching participants to handle diverse social environments, understand non-verbal cues, and build effective interpersonal relationships.
This module will provide participants with an opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world work setting. They will be placed in internships that align with their interests and abilities, under the supervision of supportive mentors.
Furthermore, it’s important to note that any successful approach should involve customization to each person’s individual needs and strengths. A one-size-fits-all model won’t be effective in this scenario. To truly empower autistic individuals, we should utilize technology to tailor support services to each person’s unique abilities and life situation.
And, above all, it’s critical to involve autistic individuals in the design and development process. Their insights can guide us in creating technologies that are truly helpful, respectful, and effective.
